The DuPage Stars Hockey Club have joined forces with Tier 1 Athletic Performance and are proud to offer the following Summer Training Program at a significant discounted rate.
"Next season we are going to be an organization built on speed and stamina. This will be the core structure of what we are going to develop our fundamentals and skills around. It is crucial that our players start prepping now and utilize any off ice and on ice conditioning opportunities over the summer to make sure they are ready come fall" Brian Barnes - Hockey Director and Varsity Head Coach
For the last 8 years, Tier 1 has specialized in training for hockey players. Hockey players require multi-faceted core competencies. Only Tier 1 trains for all the skills necessary to excel at the world’s greatest game. Additionally, Tier 1 provides required nutrition, ongoing comparative testing and uses periodization of training to increase intensity as the player develops. No two workouts are ever the same and Tier 1 has not had a single athlete miss a day of training due to injury. In short, Tier 1 has designed and implemented a hockey training methodology to fully develop player skills in a safe and challenging environment.
Hockey Training Includes:
Power for Battles and On Skate Stability
Quickness Training for Short Races
Core Stability and Strength to Stand Up to Opponents
Agility for Elusiveness and Small Area Competition
Hand Eye Coordination for Pass Catching and Shooting
Endurance for Third Period and Tournaments
Core Rotation Power for Shooting
Upper Body/Lower Body Independence for Better Playmaking
Increased Flexibility for Injury Reduction and Prevention
The Tier 1 program is designed to help young athletes gain strength, athleticism and self-confidence. If skaters work hard in the gym, practice is easier. If practice is easier, players learn more. The more players learn, the greater their enjoyment and performance in games.

Woodridge, IL --- DuPage Stars President William Flinker and the DuPage Stars executive board members are pleased to announce that Brian Barnes has been named Hockey Director and Head varsity coach for the upcoming fall season.
“From the very first communication with Brian I could feel his enthusiasm and professionalism along with his desire to build a successful program for our club,” said Flinker. “With his leadership and our support, we are confident and excited for the future of our club.”
Barnes comes to the DuPage Stars after spending the last nine years as an assistant varsity coach at Maine Township. The three years prior to his tenure with varsity he helped coach junior varsity at Maine. During his time, Maine Township was a four-time league champion, including the past three Illinois West Hockey League cups in a row. Maine was state finalists in 2015, along with multiple state final four appearances and a round of eight appearance in 2022-2023. Additionally, over 25 boys from the program have gone on to play College D-III, College Club, NAHL or NA3HL hockey.
An Illinois native, Barnes grew up playing hockey for the Park Ridge Northern Express. He played Maine Township hockey his junior and senior years of high school. After high school Barnes played two years of club hockey at Robert Morris University.
“I chose to join the DuPage Stars organization because I believe the club wants to take that next step towards greatness,” said Barnes. “I feel with my determination, experience, and drive to win, in combination with the club’s resources and dedication to the players, we can break that barrier and become a strong presence in Illinois High School Hockey.”
The executive board is eager to welcome Barnes to the program and anticipates a bright future for both the players and the program.
